Ste. Genevieve County is located in the Southeast quadrant of the state of Missouri, approximately one hour South of St. Louis. Our central location offers a safe, small town atmosphere with convenient access to a major metropolitan area, transportation corridors, markets and entertainment via our proximity to the Mississippi River and Interstate 55.
Our work force is frequently described as “first rate” in talent, trainability and dedication. Ste. Genevieve County was recently certified as a Work Ready Community by the National Career Readiness Testing program, with more than 56 % of the workers earning the Silver Level and 32% earning the Gold Level in the NCRT Certificate program.
If you are considering Ste. Genevieve for expansion or relocation purposes, we have several existing commercial facilities as well as shovel-ready sites to choose from. Your management team may also like to know that Ste. Genevieve has excellent educational, healthcare and recreational facilities. Our local hospital was recently recognized as one of the Top 150 Great Places to Work by Becker’s Healthcare Magazine. Our high school graduation rate is 93% while the statewide average is 87%, and 66% of this year's graduates went on to pursue technical education, two or four year colleges.
Manufacturing/mining, education and healthcare are our top employment sectors in the county. For leisure pursuits, there are ten wineries, microbreweries and the Ste. Genevieve Golf Course. In addition, Ste. Genevieve's Historic District has recently been recommended as a new National Park Site due to our status as Missouri's first settlement and the preservation of rare French Colonial architecture dating to the 1700's.
